Hello Again to everyone I hope you and yours are all keeping safe and well, this is part two of our guess the car quiz, there will be four parts in all and if you list out the vehicles on each one, when this emergency is all over I will let you know my E Mail then if you send them in to me there is a prize on offer of a Bottle of Whisky supplied by me for the winner.
 
If we do get a few sets of correct answers then I will get the PGM to draw one of them out of a hat to decide the winner.                               Come on Join in.  It’s just a bit of fun.
 
Now then this time its cars from the 70’s, some interesting facts occurred during this period for Instance:-
February 4th 1971 Rolls Royce declared itself Bankrupt and is then Nationalised by the Conservatives.
In 1972 a Total of 2.3 Million vehicles leave Britain’s Factories an All Time Record.
 
I should add to notes that one of the pictures sneaked in is a Foreign Car
 
February Sir David Brown sells Aston Martin to William Wilsons Co. for £100 on the understanding that they will not be encumbered by the £5 Million debts and overdrafts owing.
 
July 5th The National Motor Museum is opened. 
Jan 1st, 1974 a 50-mph speed limit is introduced on Britain’s roads to conserve fuel.
Dec 30th Aston Martin Ceases production due to owing £750,00 to its parent company.
June 1975 British Leyland Motor Corp ceases to exist and is renamed British Leyland, in which the Government owns 99.8%.
June 1975. Aston Martin is bought again this time by an American and a Canadian.
1976 The Chrysler name replaces those at Rootes, Sunbeam and Humber Marks which date back to 1898 and 1899.
May 21st Jenson ceases production after 40 years.
1978 Ford opens a new £180 Million plant at Bridgend to which the Government contributes £30 Million, initially the plant is expected to produce 500,000 vehicles per annum.
1978. The Hillman name established in 1907 is discontinued by Chrysler although the Hillman Hunter continues production in Ireland!
1978 August 10th Peugeot buys Chrysler Europe car and commercial vehicle operations, bizarrely the hitherto secret deal to which the British Government is not privy is signed for Tax reasons at Heathrow Airport.
Oct 1978 Bedford builds its 3 Millionth commercial vehicle 47 years after production began.
1979 May 15th British Leyland and Honda sign a memorandum to develop a joint model.
